Our Civic Community
AmericanVoters is a civic platform where citizens come to learn about legislation, express their views, and engage constructively with elected representatives.
The platform is developed and operated by SeniorsUnited, Inc.
To keep the platform respectful, effective, and open to all Americans, we ask participants to follow these community guidelines.
Our goal is simple: support thoughtful civic engagement.
Our Values

Share accurate information and speak from genuine experience. - Inclusion

Expected Behavior
Be Respectful
Debate is a healthy part of democracy.
Disagree with ideas — not with people.
Personal attacks, harassment, or abusive language are not permitted.
Stay Focused on Civic Issues
AmericanVoters exists to help citizens understand legislation and communicate with elected officials.
Participation should remain focused on public policy, legislation, and civic engagement.
Be Truthful
Share information responsibly.
If you are unsure about something, say so. Misinformation weakens constructive civic dialogue.
Protect Privacy
Respect the privacy of others.
Do not share another person's personal information without their consent.
Prohibited Content
The following are not permitted on AmericanVoters:
- Threats of violence or harm
- Hate speech or discrimination based on protected characteristics
- Harassment or intimidation
- Impersonation of other individuals or public officials
- Spam, scams, or commercial solicitations
- Attempts to disrupt or abuse the platform
- Posting another person's private information without consent
- Illegal content or activities
Political Discourse
AmericanVoters is nonpartisan.
We encourage thoughtful discussion about legislation and public policy.
However:
- Focus on issues and policy impacts
- Avoid partisan campaigning or attacks
- Respect that Americans hold a wide range of political views
AmericanVoters does not moderate content based on political viewpoint.
Moderation
To protect the integrity of the platform, moderators may:
- Remove content that violates these guidelines
- Issue warnings for minor violations
- Temporarily restrict certain platform features
- Suspend or terminate accounts for serious or repeated violations
Moderation decisions are intended to maintain respectful civic participation.
Reporting Concerns
If you see activity that violates these guidelines, please report it using available tools or contact us directly.
Appeals
If you believe a moderation decision was made in error, you may contact us to request a review.
Appeals are reviewed by senior moderators.
